EPHRAIM, WI — The FM 106.9 The Lodge Cherry Drop™, one of the area’s signature traditions for ringing in the New Year, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in a new location at the end of 2026.
The New Year’s Eve celebration and midnight countdown, modeled after iconic ball-drop events around the country, will relocate to Sturgeon Bay after nine successful years in Sister Bay. The event’s new home will be Door Community Foundation Square, located at the intersection of Third Avenue and Kentucky Street, adjacent to the historic Olde Bell Tower.
As in years past, the centerpiece of the celebration will be the giant six-foot, 300-pound illuminated cherry. With the assistance of Northeast Wisconsin Crane Services, the cherry will once again be suspended approximately 120 feet above the countdown square before making its dramatic descent at midnight.
FM 106.9 The Lodge, which owns and produces the Cherry Drop™, evaluated several potential sites in an effort to maintain the festive, community-centered atmosphere that has defined the event. After careful consideration, organizers selected the Sturgeon Bay location as the best opportunity to continue the tradition while planning for future growth.
The 2026 Cherry Drop™ marks a milestone year for the event, and organizers look forward to welcoming longtime attendees and first-time visitors alike to celebrate the New Year in a vibrant new setting.
Additional details, including event programming and timing, will be announced closer to New Year’s Eve.

Statement from Husby’s:
In regards to the 106.9 The Lodge Cherry Drop —
After much consideration by all parties involved in the planning and hosting of the Cherry Drop, 106.9 The Lodge has decided to move their event to Sturgeon Bay. Husby’s would like to thank The Lodge for a great nine year run of hosting the event in Sister Bay, and we wish them well on their move to Sturgeon Bay.
The event has grown significantly over the years and for the past few we have had discussions about it outgrowing our space. The complications and hard work it has taken to ensure the safety of the event and the winter elements have all played a factor in this decision.
New Year’s Eve will always be a fun night in Sister Bay and at Husby’s. We look forward to celebrating with our families and wonderful patrons again this year.
