The Blessing of the Fleet is a tradition dating back centuries in which a priest or pastor offers a prayer of blessing for the safety of all those who utilize our beloved waters of Lake Michigan and for a bountiful catch. Boaters of all types are encouraged to come for the official blessing taking place at 9am on Saturday, June 6th. Commercial fisherman, a weekend boater, a local business owner, or water-loving enthusiast- you too are invited to the Baileys Harbor Town Marina, free for vessels and spectators. The ceremony includes a local pastor blessing for the safety of the fleet and a prosperous season ahead, viewing local boats that are all a part of Baileys Harbor’s rich maritime heritage on our working waterfront – this is a rare opportunity to see them all at once, and  gathering with community as we start up another busy season in the Baileys Harbor!
